"Following the comments of some O-net contributors, here are my suggestions for the new media-friendly Olympic O format: * The race should take place entirely within a stadium or indoor arena, thus eliminating the problems of viewing the whole course. * All competitors must wear swimsuits, the more revealing the better. * Every time a competitor punches a control a siren is sounded and a firework let off. This will both heighten the atmosphere and help the crowd to follow the action. * One leg should require competitors to swim through a vat of mud, custard, baked beans or some other substance of the planner's choosing. * Loud music will be played throughout the race. * Substitutes will be allowed at each control point to replace tiring runners. * Style marks will be awarded for good running technique, speedy punching and the quality of the athlete's excuses in the post-race interview. * In the event of a dead heat the gold medal will be awarded to the competitor with the richest sponsor. Sounds like a winner, doesn't it!"
